When I met Don last Spring, at the first of more than one hundred houses we would look at together I liked him immediately. He was easy-going, upbeat, had a good sense of humor and a lot of experience in real estate as well as knowledge about the area I was interested in. Over the next couple of months I made a half dozen offers before finally having one accepted. Don was very attentive and kept me informed, good or bad news. After the inspection of the house for which my offer was accepted I knew it wasn't the right house for me.
Don was patient and assured me that his client's satisfaction was his priority. So, we spent a couple more weeks house shopping until I found another house. As a bank-owned house there were complications and delays due to the seller. Don took the time to explain how things worked and did his best to speed up the process. Unfortunately during a delay that took us into the Fall, the house flooded and the seller refused to compromise for the extensive water damage. Feeling discouraged, Don cheered me up with more house showings. By this time Don had a pretty good idea what I wanted in a house and we found a third house quickly.
I was learning a lot about real estate. I learned I would be better off with a new loan officer, which Don helped me with, and that certain cities can make it difficult to buy a home. Even during the most stressful times I always felt confident that Don had my best interest in mind. Eventually the complications involved with house number three and the stipulations imposed by the city overwhelmed me and once again I backed out. It was Winter then and Don didn't seem to mind trudging through the snow to show me more houses. Although I much preferred empty houses I admired Don's rapport with residents and their pets.
After seeing a couple dozen more houses again I found a house that seemed just right for me, better than the others. Again the process was not simple and the bank selling the home needed much reminding from Don how things are supposed to work. Don managed to get a vacation in during this time but checked in with me regularly to tell me how great the weather was and to see how things were progressing. Again there several delays that took us into Spring but with every issue that came up Don was tenacious about seeing to it that I got a fair deal. So finally after spending a full year trying to buy a house I'm a happy homeowner and I could have never got here without Don.
